Is someone trying to frame psychologist Pippa Durrant for the brutal murder of a woman she’s never even met?

It certainly seems that way when Pippa’s photo is found on the body of murdered lottery winner, Leanne Smith.

Pippa soon finds herself a suspect at the centre of a huge media storm. But she has an invaluable skill set – she is a human polygraph, expertly trained to spot lies and deceit. Skills she will need to help her to solve the mystery of who killed Leanne before it destroys her career - and her life.

But every cloud has a silver lining and this one arrives in the shape of DS Joe Swain. Initially suspicious of Pippa, he comes to trust her and to value her lie detection skills. Soon it’s clear there’s a definite spark between them....

Then, when another body turns up, Pippa realises her reputation isn’t the only thing in danger. Can she identify the killer before she becomes the next victim?

Fatal Fortune is the electrifying first book in the Dr. Pippa Durrant Thriller Series. If you like edge-of-your-seat action, clever sleuths, and shocking twists, then you’ll love Miranda Rijks’ gripping crime novel.

Hey it’s my turn today on the blog tour for Fatal Fortune By Miranda Rijks for Damppebbles Tours. I would like to thank Emma and the author Miranda for having me on your tour.

Here’s my review of this wonderful book.

This is book one in a brand new series featuring Pippa Durrant who is a psychologist.

I was completely sucked in from the very start. Pippa Durrant recieves a phone call from her brother to inform her, that her photo is being shared all over the news as the murder victim, Leanne Smith. Who has recently been a lottery winner and this is only the start.

The police has mistakenly used the photo found on the body of LeanneSmith. Pippa Durrant has no connection to the victim nor the family. The family don’t correct the police.

Pippa Durrant works in her private practice as a psychologist. She has quite a past which is shared throughout the book leaving us wanting to know so much more which I hope there is more to come in the next book/books. She has a good reputation with her clients. She used to be a forensic psychologist working with the police.

DS Joe Swain is the leading detective on the case and when another murder threatens to risk Pippa’s life, career etc. She is soon thrown in the deep end and helps out throughout the investigation and they become quite a pair, working together. There is a little spark between them, I hope to see lots more to come from these two.

We are introduced to Donna and her husband, Ricky. Donna is Leanne’s Daughter and we follow there life throughout the book which is rather interesting.

This book takes you on one twisty, dark road. It is fast-paced. The character grabs you from the first page. Especially Pippa. The murderer is quite a surprise little twist, and we are left wanting and needing to know more about Pippa. And how DS Joe Swain and Pippa Durrants relationship will continue.

Overall I absolutely enjoyed this book. Great and interesting characters, intriguing plot and a fast pacing story, we can really get our nails stuck into. Well written. I can not wait for the other books in the series and I will definitely be checking out her other books.
