He watches. He waits. He strikes.
DI Helena Stratton has been through the wars on a previous case—torture that has scarred her for life, gifting her with nightmares. This new one is no different. On top of that…
A partner she can’t stand. DS Andy Mald needs to buck his ideas up.
A boyfriend she’s just ditched. Or is he a stalker?
A triple murder. Who is doing such hideous things to the bodies?
Someone out there knows.
And he’s desperate to be the man in the house.
Detective Inspector Helena Stratton and DS Andy Mald are called to a scene of a body found in a house, Callie Walker. She is found with her mouth sewn up, gardening gloves, Nails ripped out and they’re painted red with a flower left near her.
This quickly turns into a very disturbing and fucked up murder case when Callie’s sister is also found murdered. All three sisters have big secrets. What is it?
DI Helena is unfortunately still disturbed and struggles with a previous case which she got caught up in and it is slowly told throughout the book. She’s damaged and bruised.
DI Stratton and DS Mald don’t get along at first actually to be honest Helena first seems a bit mean and a closed of person but this soon changes and they become a great team. It’s lovely to read them building a partnership and good work relationship.
This is a frankly disturbing, creepy cracking read which has you completely gripped and turning the pages frantically. You think of this book long long after you have finished it. Some of it is the stuff of nightmares.
Mel and Emmy are awesome authors separately and together they are a force to be reckoned with. You wouldn’t know that two people wrote this book as it flows beautifully.
Absolutely fantastic start to a series, and one epic belter of a book and I cannot not flipping wait and impatiently, I might add for the next book which comes out on the 3rd of June.
