'Gritty and gripping' - Colette McCormick, author of Ribbons in Her Hair.

The first title in a dark and gritty crime series.

Brought up believing that sex is the devil's work, a killer only finds release once he has saved his victim's souls. Abiding by his vision, he marks them as his. A gift to guide his chosen ones on the rightful path to redemption.

Detective Inspector Paolo Sterling is out to stop him, but Paolo has problems of his own. Hunting down the killer as the death toll rises, the lines soon blur between Paolo's personal and professional lives.

Today, I am Excited to be on the Blog Tour with Rachel’s Random Resources for Retriever of Souls By Lorraine Mace, Below you can find my book review.

This is a new to me author which is why I love doing blog tours. Anyway, What a brilliant start to a series, I’m kinda sorta maybe obsessed now.

From the very beginning of this book, I was totally hooked. Not only is the murder investigation brilliant, intriguing and gripping. The background involving Detective Paolo Sterling is incredibly addictive as well.

Chapters alternate between DI Sterling and the killer which is one style of writing, I particularly love. Getting right into how the killer’s mind works and how the Detectives solve the crime.

Detective Inspector Paolo Sterling and his partner Detective Sargent Dave Johnson are investigating a series of deaths of young women. And the killer thinks he is saving the young womens souls. While this does have a religious aspect, which I don’t particularly 100% love. It is actually rather well done and definitely needed in this book.

DS Dave Johnson is a character you love to hate, he is very judge-mental about women, prostitution.

At First, DI Sterling is frustrated with his partner but Sterling And Johnson become a good partnership.

As well as investigating a gruesome, gritty serial killer, DI Sterling also has a lot going on in his personal life.

Because of his job, he unfortunately lost his ex wife due to her having an affair. This all started due to his eldest daughter, Sarah dying in a car accident. Which was due to his work and someone trying to kill/injure him. After her death DI Sterling shut down and shut everyone down.. He currently lives in a crappy bedside alone.

Overall this is a fantastic, gritty, hooking and unputdownable addictive book. It has everything you would want and love about crime fiction. And apart from the murder investigation, it also leaves you wanting to know more and delve into DI Sterling’s personal life and the other characters in the book.

Definitely another author that I will be stalking following.

Thank you, to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for letting me be apart of this blog tour. And thank you for my ARC..
