Today, I have a special blog post as I have Author KT KING with me raising awareness for M.E/CFS awareness week. This is hugely relevant to me as I also suffer from M.E/CFS. We always need more awareness, and especially more people believing this is a REAL debilitating life-changing condition for millions of us despite each of us having a different severity. It’s not just people in general, it’s the professionals. We have to fight every day to be believed, to be heard, to make people aware and most of all for help managing our condition. This isn’t new it been around for centuries, with different names and yet we still don’t know the reason for it, why and how to manage it. And we are still trying to raise awareness.

Anyway, I will hand this over to KT KING and later on share my book reviews for Little Eden 1 – A magic book and Little Eden 2 – Another Magic Book….

Imagine if the self-isolation and social distancing you have been experiencing these last few weeks was going to continue for the rest of your life?

That’s right, for the rest of your life – without letup, without reprieve, without end.

On top of being stuck inside, unable to shop, see your friends, go on holidays, go to the pub, a café or the supermarket, you feel as if you have the flu 24/7. Your body won’t function. Everything aches. You find even the smallest tasks, like taking a shower, cooking a meal or reading a chapter in a book take all your energy.

Millions suffer from this misunderstood illness worldwide, but there is little research, and no known cause or cure. The World Health Organisation has registered it as an epidemic, but governments are still not helping those affected.

It can happen to anyone at any age.

Living in isolation, often bed and housebound, without an income or state support, without medical help or carers, sufferers of ME are forgotten by society and rely on family charity to survive.

When you return to normal, we will still be in in lockdown without hope.

KT King has suffered for over 27 years with the chronic and invisible disability called Myalgic Encephalomyelitis also called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She is trying to help raise awareness for this terrible, debilitating and life destroying disease.

The main heroine of Little Eden, Sophie Lawrence, also suffers with CFS but she is still a heroine none the less.

A bit about the author KT King

Many may wonder how I can write novels if I have ME/CFS. I am able to write when I don’t need to do  anything else. The fluctuation of the illness baffles everyone as does the resolve of those with it to battle on trying to make a living. I lost my home, my income and my independence in 2012 coming back to live with my elderly parents on whom I now rely for physical daily help and financial support. By age 40 I had lost the battle with ME.

Writing too much gives me migraines so I can only write a few days a week for about an hour at a time on what is called ‘a good day’. I write through chronic pain and fatigue but it keeps me alive and it keeps me sane.

Mental and emotional health deteriorate for all of us because we can rarely socialise or see friends. We feel we have no purpose or usefulness and many of us are in terrible pain 24/7 with Fibromyalgia which often accompanies ME.

We can either give up or we can try to do something even if it’s just a little thing on ‘a good day’.

Becoming a published writer is a lifelong dream come true and escaping into Little Eden helps keep the suicidal thoughts at bay. I hope it’ll be a beautiful escape place for you too. One of the main things readers say is that they would love to live in Little Eden which makes it all seem worthwhile!

I’m an indie author, using my savings from before 2012 to publish. I can’t meet deadlines of publishers or do the usual sales promotions.

I can spend months, even years unable to get out of bed so I need all the help I can get spreading the word about my books, especially from kind book bloggers like Ami-May.

I find crafting is good for mental and emotional health so when I can I make handmade jewellery to give to friends and to sell in my Etsy shop where all the gifts inspired by Little Eden. I rarely have the energy to bake but now and again I manage to make a cake or some cookies! Some of my recipes have made their way into the novels.

2012. Little Eden, London, England.

The beautiful sanctuary town of Little Eden is under threat.

Human greed, selfishness and disregard are about to turn the last 1,000 years to dust.

Robert Bartlett-Hart must make a choice.

With the help his friends (plus plenty of tea and cake), Robert learns that there is more at stake than just Little Eden.

Something lies at the heart of Abbey; something that stands between mankind and Armegeddon.

The friends must navigate past lives, other dimensions, and even Heaven itself, to find a way to save Little Eden and themselves.

Will Little Eden survive to usher in a new age, or will humanity perish with it?

I freaking loved this book. So much so I purposely slowed down reading this book and read bits and pieces before I went to bed. Somehow and I think this was the author’s intention which really did work. I felt calm, relaxed and totally invested with Little Eden and the many wonderful characters.

Little Eden is a little town in London, surrounded by walls. It’s a place of beautiful people, beautiful businesses. I really want to go and chill in No.1 Daisy Place Cafe and Bookstore, reading a book talking to the lovely people of the town. And of course, eating cake and drinking tea.

Aunt Lily, A trustee of Little Eden dies who very much sounds like a wonderful person and unfortunately, some of the people left in Little Eden trust wants to sell up.

Which threatens peoples businesses, homes, peace and happiness in this unique town. A place so different and beautiful from the rest of the world.

Where spirituality and magic are so very alive and real.

I loved all the characters, there are so many but I think I absolutely love Sophie who suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She moved back to LittleEden when she could no longer work and lost her home. I also love how the people around here are accepting of her illness and understand that she is very much ill which in real life this isn’t always the case. Sophie presents and raises awareness of a little tiny slice of what having ME/CFS is like and how hard it is to cope with.

The writing was awesome sort of like magic, compelling, captivating and putting you under a rather epic spell.

If you want a book you can escape to full of magic, spiritualism, hope, amazing beautiful enchanting characters then this is the book for you. It is not a book that fits into one single genre. It is many woven together, a bit of something for everyone.

Plot/Narrative

Ah and Welcome back to Little Eden and we carry on with the characters in saving the little town of sanctuary Little Eden in London UK from sale and demolition and the spirit world also interfering with the future of Little Eden.

I don't want to expand too much with the plot/narrative as I think this has to come under ' you have to read it' to understand the entirety and get the whole experience of reading this book.

Characters

Sophie is and will always be my favourite character in this series because She is a really relatable and satisfying character to be with and read about, as I suffer from CFS amongst others. There aren't many characters who deal with CFS ( Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) in books and especially not in the way KT King describes the illness and the effects accurately, refined and realistic. I always find myself wanting to escape reality, especially around my illnesses. And she revokes all the emotions I think and feel with Sophie's character.

They are many many beautifully captivating well crafted and well-written characters throughout this book from Lucy, to Lancelot, to Adela and to Robert etc. You get lost within the characters of this book and how exceptionally well they have been created. They envoke emotions. She makes you care about the characters.

Writing Style/Pacing

KT King Writing is Passionate, Enchanting and Spellbinding. I can't explain in words how KT King writes it's unique and the passion she has for the world she has created with Little Eden, The Characters, The narrative jumps of the pages. And you can 1000% tell that ALOT of thought has research gone into this book or series.

It is a steady paced book which is suits the book so you can everything in.

What is extra special about this amongst other things is the links to explain certain things in the book such as spiritualism, healing, links to music, a map of Little Eden etc. Not only it is just a book but it is so much more than that. It is interactive and takes you on write inside and outside of the book. She has expanded this far from only a book including homemade crafts, recipes that are linked to Little Eden.

King has created a Heavenly, Enchanting and Spectacular Location with Little Eden. The way King describes the setting is nothing short of wonderful.

The theme Jesus genuinely as I've said in Book One's Review. This book has it ALL.

About KT King

Becoming a published writer is a lifelong dream come true. I hope Little Eden will become a beautiful escape place for you as it is for me. One of the main things readers say is that they would love to live in Little Eden which makes all my efforts worthwhile!
The novels are based on mine and my clients experiences with the spirit world and supernatural which occurred (and still do occur) during my years as a complimentary therapist and psychic. I also worked in cafes in my youth (hence the setting of Daisy Place Café-Bookshop) and studied French & English Literature at Lancaster University before travelling through Australia and New Zealand. On my return to little old England I worked for the British Red Cross. Due to having a chronic illness ME (Myalgic Encephalomelitis) also known as CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) along with Fibromyalgia I could never work more than a few hours a week and re-trained in healing and hypnotherapy to try to help myself when the NHS could not. When I had to leave my job I began my own part-time business which included psychic readings and reflexology, teaching healing and helping others with their spiritual journey.
Many may wonder how I can write novels if, like Sophie in the books, I have ME/CFS. The fluctuation of the illness baffles everyone, including those with it who try to battle on trying to stay alive. After more than 20 years of struggle I lost my home, my business/income and my independence in 2012 coming back to live with my elderly parents on whom I now rely for physical daily help and financial support. At the age 40 I had to accept that I had lost the battle with ME.
I can only write a few days a week for about an hour at a time on what is called ‘a good day’ but I can spend days, weeks, months, even years virtually bedbound. I am 95% housebound so I need a fictional place to escape to – hence the invention of Little Eden!
I write through chronic pain and fatigue but being creative keeps me alive and it keeps me sane. I am an indie author as I cannot meet deadlines or do promotional tours, fairs or talks so I rely on the kindness of strangers, readers and book bloggers, earth angels and book fairies to help me spread the word about Little Eden books!

As Lilly says in book one, ‘never give up, never give in!’

I have a few (very few) clients from my previous business as a complimentary therapist, psychic, healer and ascension coach and I also make handmade jewellery which I sell in my Etsy shop where all the gifts inspired by Little Eden. I rarely have the energy to bake but now and again I manage to make a cake or some cookies! Some of my recipes have made their way into the novels.

I am trying to help raise awareness for ME/CFS through my novels and so far have had a good response from sufferers and non-sufferers alike. The novels are not about the illness but the heroine, Sophie, suffers from it and she is a heroine none the less!
